A memorial service for Dorothy Rose Burks 64 of Bluewater Acres, NM will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist church in Thoreau. Service will be officiated by Brother Wayne.\n\nDorothy Rose Burks was born July 19, 1954 in Gallup New Mexico, and departed this life on Thursday October 25, 2018, in Blue Water Acres, at the age of 64.\n\nDorothy is the daughter of Gilbert and Beatrice Gonzales and was a long time resident of Blue Water acres. Dorothy graduated from Gallup High School with the class of 1973. Dorothy and her husband, Gerry, were married in 1982. Dorothy worked for Presbyterian Medical Services since August 1996 where she began as Administrative Assistant. She advanced to Admistrator where she over saw three clinics in the Gallup and Thoreau area. While there she made many significant contributions and accomplishments, including oversight of the Senior Citizens Centers in Thoreau and Ramah..\n\nDorothy was preceeded in death by her husband Gerald (Gerry), her father Gilbert, and a sister-in-law Beverly Gonzales.\n\nDorothy is survived by her mother Beatrice Gonzales of the home, by her son Aaron and his wife Viviana also of the home; her daughter Andrea (Andi) of Albuquerque, a sister Ophelia Gonzales and three brothers Eddy and his four children; Michael and his wife Rina and their two children; Anthony and his wife Diane and their three children. Dorothy had three grand children that she adored, Evelyn, Derrick and Bethany as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, a memorial gift in Dorothy's name may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation or the America Heart Association.
